European Off Road Tours
How does traveling through the Pyrenees, Alps or Portugal via high mountain passes, deserts, forests and dried up river beds sound?
We thought so too, so we began planning trips for 2024 and 2025...

As with our UK tours they're all small groups and in full accordance with local guidelines and rules.
And, as with our UK tours, the accommodation is all either hotel or fully serviced campsite based. This means you don't need to have a purpose built "overland" 4x4, just the same vehicle that you go green laning in the UK with is absolutely fine.
Our support vehicle will have all of the essentials on board and a fridge to keep drinks and food nice and fresh during the hottest times of the day. So all you'll need are good off road biased tyres (plus a full size spare and tools to change it), basic recovery equipment (tow strap and points to attach to your vehicle) and a sense of adventure...

How does 7 days/8 nights camping in the warm spring sun of the south of France sound?
I'd say given how wet and windy Easter 2024 was, its probably quite an appealing thought?

This fantastic tour is planned to be as faff free and as family friendly as possible. We stay on 1 serviced campsite for the duration of the tour. So you can pitch up knowing you haven't got the fun and games of packing away again for a full week.
The route's planned for this tour are all SUV friendly. This means that whatever you use to green lane in the UK is absolutely more than fine for these tracks. That's not to say there wont be opportunity for the group to get stuck in at times and help each other through some of the more technical sections.
There's more than likely going to be some snow on the higher passes as well, so building a snowman at Easter in the south of France is absolutely on the cards.
There is a planned day off from driving mid tour. This is to give you time to visit local attractions, take part in any local activities or visit one of the many towns in the area. Or you can just chill out in the sun and enjoy the peace and quiet with a glass of wine.

A 13 night camping tour of the off road wonder that is Portugal.
Steeped in history and bathed in warming sun for most of the year, its no wonder why Portugal is on most holidaymakers lists. We travel through mountains, deserts, old villages and coastal dunes as we work our way south with the coast never far away. At the halfway point (well, almost halfway) we have a rest day planned where everyone has the opportunity to do exactly as they please. The night before the day off we usually have a big group BBQ and enjoy the local hospitality.
The second half of the tour see's us head inland and steadily northwards as we weave our way to our end point near the town of Braganca. But the good thing is we do take our time and get to sample some of the greatest tracks and trails Portugal has to offer along the way.
The tour takes in 6 locations, with a minimum of 2 nights at each serviced campsite.
The route on the static days is a loop planned to cover both great tracks and specific points of interest.

10 nights/9 days of exploring the beautiful and exciting Pyrenees.
This tour has been designed to be more of an introduction to overland style touring. You'll have the convenience of a "basecamp" for the most part, but with a mid tour change of location after 5 nights.

With 126 peaks over 3000m in height and an age that makes the Alps look like their young cousin, the Pyrenee's are rightly so one of the 4x4 enthusiasts dream locations

Arrival is on the Sunday afternoon, where we'll all meet up at the campsite and go through the plan for the tour. We'll also have a BBQ and get to now each other a bit better, which never takes long given we're all there for the same reason. This site will be our basecamp for the next 5 nights.
Monday - Thursday is when we go out and tackle a huge range of tracks. Some easy, some less so, but all will be fantastic and have some unique feature along them.
Friday This is changeover day. After a steady pack up in the morning, we then make our way East and over towards the part of the Pyrenee's where France, Spain and Andorra all meet. With a planned arrival time of mid afternoon, we should have more than enough time to get everything set up and enjoy the evening and be ready for the next leg of your adventure.
Saturday - Tuesday For the next 4 days we focus on higher elevation and very exposed tracks. If you didn't need high factor suncream before, you will now! Tuesday night will be our farewell meal/BBQ and usually involves enjoying the local hospitality...
Departure from the campsite on Wednesday, and at this point we say either "goodbye" or "lets go" as we head East and over to the Alps.

Our Pyrenee's tour is perfectly suited to having a couple of days off on the French Riviera relaxing in the sun before jumping back into your 4x4 and spending another 9 days with us exploring the majestic French Alps.

All campsite fee's with electric hook up (excluding any local taxes payable)
All tolls and fee's directly associated with access to a planned track or national park

Another spectacular tour covering one of Europe's most iconic destinations. Towering over the centre of Europe, the Alps offer some stunning driving just on the tarmac, but throw in some properly high altitude tracks, glaciers, year round snow and you've got yourself a perfect combo.

Just like our Pyrenees Tour, this is designed also to be a great "next step" into your families overlanding type adventures and follows a similar timeline.

After arriving at our first campsite on Sunday, we have a group BBQ and get to know each other a bit before the adventure starts.
Monday - Thursday. This first leg is mostly concentrating on the more southern regions of the French Alps. The planned tracks are both exciting and a great way to get used to shelf roads and higher altitude driving. During the 4 days we tackle some genuinely amazing tracks that are both long and sustained.
Friday. This is our changeover day. After a steady pack up in the morning we head north and into the Alps proper
Saturday - Tuesday. For this leg of your tour we are all about high altitude, steep sided valleys and amazing sights. From abandoned forts at over 3000m to eye-wateringly big views, these next 4 days will both challenge and amaze you in equal measure.
Wednesday is the end of the tour and our departure day.
