Morocco 4x4 tours

Fancy something a bit more adventurous? Our Morocco 4x4 tours are planned and designed to be an in-depth introduction into what is more commonly known as "overlanding". With plenty of challenges along the way that will require teamwork and resolve. But that's all part of the fun, right?
Whilst we wont be off grid for weeks on end, we will be spending 2 x 3 day periods where we will be very remote and not be in a position to obtain supplies. This means you'll need to be able to carry everything you need in or on your vehicle for the duration of these short sections. Your guide will make sure you are fully aware of these at the time and help ensure you are more than prepared.
All of our tours to Morocco follow a similar route. This includes the remote eastern regions, Erg Chebbi and crossing the Sahara and then north through the High Atlas mountains

Pure Morocco! Nothing says you own and enjoy a 4x4 better than by visiting the off road nirvana that is this wonderful, vibrant and enchanting country. Perched enticingly at the top of the African continent, just a short ferry ride from the European mainland, this country of history, colour and rarity sits waiting for you to discover it.

And that's exactly what we intend to do on our tours of Morocco, in its purest form.

16 days we'll be in Morocco. We feel that this is just about long enough to cover a good amount of the sites, have a couple of days off to relax from driving and tick the main boxes of why Morocco is on so many "to do" lists.

The evening before day 1, we'll all meet up at a campsite near the ferry port of Almeria in Spain for a bit of a get together before the following days ferry crossing to either Melilla or Nador in Morocco.

Day 1 -5. After what will hopefully be an uneventful morning crossing from Spain, we begin day 1 with a highway journey towards the Eastern quarter and genuine remoteness. After a good sleep, a refuel and grabbing those all important snacks, we head off the asphalt and onto our first of many tracks, or "pistes" as they're known locally. The next 4 days is spent almost entirely devoid of tarmac as we weave our way along the scenic route to Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. For this section, your guide will advise you on what you'll need to have with you. There will be one further opportunity for fuel and basic provisions late on day 2 or early day 3 if absolutely necessary

Day 6 - 10. We start this little section off with a day off at our accommodation near Merzouga. If you want to go and play in the dunes, that's fine, if you want to laze in the sun and chill out, that's fine as well. This bit is up to you. Day 7 though, and we're back at it. For the next 4 days we drive across the north western reaches of the Sahara desert. Across dried up lake beds and though some very interesting sand. Again there will be a need for you to carry certain supplies with you along this section, but midway we do have the option to head north and into a small village if required. Day 10 see's us wave goodbye to the desert and head north and towards the High Atlas mountains.

Day 10 - 15. With a late start to day 10 planned, we get some time to check equipment, restock, refuel and get everything ready for the long climbs ahead. The afternoon of day 10 is a highway section that gets us to the foothills of the Atlas mountains and our next campsite. Days 11 - 14 are proper mountain pistes and high altitude tests of both machine and passengers. Shelf roads, amazing vista's and lots of rocks! For these last few days, and depending on time, we will have the option to tackle some slightly more technically challenging tracks. These will require committed driving and a definite willingness to work as a team to ensure we all get through unscathed. Day 14 is our day to say goodbye to the piste's and hello to the road north. We plan to arrive at our campsite near Chefchaouen (aka The Blue City) early enough for us to have a relaxing afternoon and evening. Day 15 and we spend a lazy few hours working our way through the narrow streets and many shops of Chefchaouen to get those all important souvenir's.

Day 16. Our last day in Morocco. After a fairly early start, we head to Tangier Med port to catch our short ferry crossing back over the mainland Europe. We will have a campsite arranged and included approximately 1-1;30hr north of Algeciras for the night should you wish to use it, but we do appreciate that after over 2 weeks of "roughing it" people may prefer the idea of a proper bed.
